This is a variable length and variable thread adapter that can be used in place of the UR-E5 and UR-E6 Nikon adapters. The set consists of an aluminum outer barrel, a plastic inner barrel an aluminum inner barrel, 28mm and 46mm threaded adapter rings. Other threaded rings avaliable. See the order page. The aluminum inner barrel has O-rings on the inside and the camera lens will slide into it with a slight friction fit allowing it to move with the lens when zooming. The aluminum inner barrel is designed to be used with filters only. The camera lens and zoom motor can not take the weight of a heavy add on lens. The plastic (delrin) one is used for adaptor lenses and does not touch the lens of the camera. You are the one responsible for moving the adaptor/lens assembly in and out. This is a tight fit and will stay where it is set. I have found that if you have the adaptor in the retracted position and turn the camera off you just get the remove lens cap warning. Remove or extend the adaptor, power cycle; no harm done. On power up the adaptor must be in the extend position or you will get the same error. .
